Who are you, that do not know your history?

themojavefullhouse:

(She looks a bit shocked and concerned at this revelation.)

That seems a bit… Severe. Necessary if they come in with that exact purpose, but…

(The woman bites her lip. He had taken measures to have a plan ready that she tried to prevent. Granted the lives he would destroy wound not be innocent parties, but such a harsh measure was still alien to her.)

I acknowledge your reluctance for this plan, I would be too had our roles been reversed. But my reasoning for this isn’t one of retribution like it was before, now there truly is purpose.

We both know all too well of the value these weapons hold in the eyes of the nations in the Wasteland. Kimball, Caesar, House, Eden, Elijah - All would sacrifice any given number of resources and soldiers if it meant the obtainment of these missiles, even when the reasons why such power should remain buried lies all around them.

Rest assured that this is only a fail-safe should I be presented with no other options. If that day ever comes, I will strive to convince them as to why they shouldn’t proceed - I also grieve at the notion of forcing the Divide through the same nightmare once more, but if need be I will not hesitate. Detonating the missiles here would set flame to already scorched earth and if they awaken in response to a nation’s greed, then perhaps they deserve such casualties.

themojavefullhouse:

(She nods.)

And I’m grateful for that. I don’t want to fight against you— and if I’m honest, you upstaged me when we fought the Marked Men. (She laughs a small bit at that.)

For your sake, I hope you do. This fight will probably worse than the second battle at Hoover Dam, and should I fail to keep the NCR out, both of them will try to come here in force in order to take it.

-He seems visibly distressed and grim at the thought of that situation. He begins to rummage through his duster.-

I have thought a lot about that situation, though it still scares me. At first I was unsure if I could ever prevent such a scenario from unfolding, then I remembered the package you carried that destroyed the Divide in the first place. A machine that woke the giants up, detonated them - It took me a long time to not only find it, but to get inside it and find out how it worked. After a long time spent tinkering with a few explosives experts in the Mojave, I made this.

-he takes out a remote detonator.-

May not be the same machine that you carried long ago, but it serves the same function and even more. Not only can it awaken what giants are left, but it can be done from a distance, with an adjustable countdown timer. If either of them come in force and try to harvest the warheads, I will let them pass and wait until they have loaded them. Then I will deliver the same message I intended to deliver to you and your home, the same recurring fate for those ignorant of history.

I can’t make such a decision quickly, even now I admit that I am still thinking about his offer. I heard all the stories of the Enclave from their occupation in the far west and east, the horrors - but their leader was willing to meet me himself on his own accord and offered assistance in the preservation of the Divide even when I declined his offer. That means something to me, though it could be yet another lie.

-He looks at the broken eyebot and shakes his head-

I wish you hadn’t done that. It’s arrival was indeed a surprise but I fear that your action sent the wrong kind of message.

It is something to think about, I can give you that. But if they realize what is stored here and have need of them— I guarantee that they will not think twice about taking it. I keep the NCR away from this place because they might do the same. Almost every organization would, which is frightening to say the least.

And think back to that mutant. Would they keep that monster alive for so long if they had good intentions for anyone but themselves? They will use fear at first, and then use force to take back something they can no longer claim.

(looks back to the bot, giving it a scowl before turning back to the man.)

Eavesdropping. If what you said before is correct, then they know who I am. I’d rather not risk saying something revealing while it was functional.

… And like it or not, they may use you to get to me.

That’s what I’m afraid of. As of now, I will not serve NCR nor the Enclave in this upcoming war, that much I’ve already made clear to both you and Eden. However, the leaders of America’s shadow are gravely mistaken if they think I am but a pawn for their use like how the Legion used me.

It’s also clear that monster, Horrigan, is to the Enclave as what Lanius was to the Bull. He is their weapon, the ultimate symbol of their power - he’s already made a big enough imprint of what the Enclave has in store for the West during his rampage in McCarran.

-A smirk appears on his face as she mentions the Divide-

As for what lies here you need not worry, courier. I have a means to deny the flags these weapons should they arrive to obtain them.

Thanks for putting up those flags at Big MT, they helped a lot.

I’m glad to know that despite Tesla’s…doubt in their usefulness, they have helped the poor souls that have been reduced to playthings for the God-children of Big Mountain.

You’ve had your encounters with the Enclave, so have I. The one who speaks through this machine is their leader, President John Henry Eden.

He came to me several weeks ago and sought to recruit me for his cause. We talked at length of his America and mine, of history. I respectfully declined his offer though, this is the first time any trace of the Enclave returned here ever since his visit.

President John Henry Eden, huh? Excuse me for a second.

(In one swift motion, she destroyed the eyebot hovering over them.)

I’m glad you declined, I really don’t want to be against you again.

Hmph, fine.

In light of this blatant disrespect you are receiving, Ulysses, perhaps you would like to reconsider the Enclave’s offer?

Ever hear of knocking, you miserable ball of scrap metal?

Who the hell is this, anyway?

What you see before you is merely a messenger, the sender whoever is much much more. I’d be happy to tell you once you let me down.
